‘Govt yet to fulfill Mopa affected demands’

Mapusa: Even as the environmental clearance for Mopa airport is expected from the ministry of environment and forests (MoEF) by March 2015, the government is yet to fulfill demands of the Mopa affected people. Mopa airport bhumiputra utkarsha samiti had placed altogether 11 demands before the government.
The demands included, appointment of an arbitrator, development of infrastructure; increasing basic amenities like roads, water and electricity; issuance of land loser certificates; enhancement of the price of the acquired land; settlement of land disputes; reservation in jobs etc. The government in 2011 had directed the steering committee to look into the demands but till now not a single one has been fulfilled.
