Missing night vision rankles city's fliers

Ludhiana: Lack of night landing facilities at Sahnewal airport has left the business community of Ludhiana in a fix. Even those who use private aircraft cannot fly to and from the city in an emergency. According to state aviation department officials, Airport Authority of India (AAI) should have got the facility commissioned.

Neeraj Saluja, an industrialist who travels in private aircraft said, "Night landing facility is needed at the airport as one travels to and from the city in emergency situations or otherwise also during night hours. As of now, one cannot fly from the city after sunset. After finishing work in the evening, one can travel to other cities by air but since there are no night vision facilities at the airport, it is not possible". Many other industrialists who travel by private aircraft ask how one can expect night landing facilities at an airport that does not even have flights.
