Mist delays AI flight by an hour

Chandigarh: With the onset of winter, low-visibility has started delaying flights.

On Thursday, passengers of an Air India flight had to wait for long as the flight which took off at 9.50am from New Delhi to Chandigarh got delayed and landed at Chandigarh airport at 11.30 am -- an hour after its expected landing time of 10.30am.

The airport officials said, "The flight got delayed because of the mist in the air. The visibility was poor for a kilometer."

"The visibility did not go below 150 metres at the main runway. The early morning visibility, however, was below 50 metres at one of the ends. It is the minimum requirement for landing under poor visibility conditions using the Category -III B instrument landing system (ILS)," they added.
