Visakhapatnam airport to get a roof in 3 months

Visakhapatnam: Though giant letters proudly proclaim 'ISO 9001:2008 certified', airline passengers arriving at and departing from Vizag international airport will probably have to wait for another three months before they can see a permanent roof over the airport.

As an airline passenger, who recently landed in Vizag from Bangalore, said, "I couldn't even recognise the airport when I landed in the city." Expressing his displeasure, he said, "Is this the way an international airport is built and run? We don't need to go outside the country to see good airports, you can now see them even in Hyderabad or Bangalore. How can those cities have such good airports whereas ours was not even able to hold on to itself?"

Another Vizag resident, K Murali Krishna, who was at the airport to see his son off, said, "An airport gives the first impression about a city to visitors coming from various parts of the country and the world. If such is the condition of the airport, will anybody really want to visit us?"
