Mangaluru: Customs officials on Thursday arrested Abdul Gaffoor Kadappuram of Kanhangad for allegedly illegally possessing 1.033 kg of gold.
It was reportedly concealed in the form of buckle holders of suitcases, handbag buckles, and jeans trouser buttons. According to sources, the customs officials checked Mr. Abdul Gaffoor after he landed at the Mangalore International Airport from Dubai by Jet Airways flight on Wednesday.
The 1.033 kilograms of gold worth Rs. 27.27 lakh was seized, a release said. The officials were carrying out further investigation to find other persons involved in the alleged smuggling of gold.
