Mumbai: Air India cabin crew association has sent another complaint to the Aviation Ministry against a flight captain who allegedly upgraded his son to first class on a flight. A previous complaint was filed against the official after his daughter took a crew bunk meant for the first officer during a 14-hour Newark to Mumbai flight.
In another case of abuse of power the Prime Minister's Office on Friday cracked the whip and sought an explanation from the Public Enterprises Joint Secretary Ashok Pavadia after he was upgraded to a first class seat on an international flight, at the cost of another passenger. Pavadia was upgraded to first class on the instructions of the Chairman and Managing Director of Air India, Rohit Nandan.
According to a letter sent by a whistleblower to the Civil Aviation Secretary Som Sundaram on November 1, 2014, a passenger - Joint Secretary in the Heavy Industries Ministry Ashok Pavadia - on flight AI 120 on the sector Frankfurt/Delhi, was illegally upgraded to First Class and assigned seat 1D.
