Air India takes measures to avoid disruption during fog in North India

New Delhi: National carrier Air India has taken steps to ensure that its flights on Dubai-Delhi sector operate seamlessly during fog in the winter season in north India.

"With the decision to deploy B77-300 Extended Range aircraft, we have made an extra capacity of 85 seats available for the travelling public during this period of peak demand," Prem Sagar, Manager, Dubai & Northern Emirates, told PTI here.

Air India has pressed into service aircraft which can land safely during fog.
"CAT 3 landing can be done in virtually zero visibility, when runway visibility is just 50 meters. It is purely an instrument approach, based on precision radio signals from ground based station," he said.

Air India has deployed Boeing-777 Extended Range aircraft on Delhi-Dubai-Delhi sector during fog period as it is Cat 3 B cleared, which is the highest category to land in India during fog.
