Airport Authority of India cancels NOC of Andheri SRA project

Mumbai: In what could well be another Campa Cola in the making, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has cancelled the no objection certificate of a Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) building project at Andheri for constructing floors beyond the permissible height. It has been found that the developer has constructed 14 floors instead of 12 by violating the height limit prescribed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
In a letter written to the civic chief, opposition leader Devendra Amberkar has demanded action against M/s Sunsine Builders and Developers for providing false information and building an illegal construction.
The SRA had asked the developer to build nine buildings for slum dwellers at the site of Mahakali Darshan Co-operative Society, Gundavali, Andheri East. However, by flouting norms regarding height, the developer has so far constructed three buildings of 14 floors each while construction of the remaining buildings is still on. About 200 families are living in these buildings.
Taking a serious view of height violations, the AAI has cancelled the NOC given to M/s Sunsine Builders and Developers (a copy of which is with The Asian Age) for procuring permission by submitting false information.
