Mumbai: An airport manager was arrested on the charge of attempting to smuggle gold worth Rs 40 lakh out of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport early on Friday.
The manager, Kanumetta Babu, was caught by the Air Intelligence Unit of the customs and the Central Industrial Security Force.
A man who had arrived from Sharjah, Shahbaaz Khan, was arrested for giving the 1,624 gm of gold to Babu, who officers said was to give the gold to one Mohsin Shaikh waiting outside.
