Barapullah phase IV will link airport

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for Barapullah phase III, which will connect East and South Delhi. The corridor is expected to be extended till the Indira Gandhi International Airport as part of phase IV.
Although Singh claimed that tenders for the project had been issued, BJP MP Maheish Girri clarified that the process was under way and that it was a mere “procedural matter”. PWD officials later said that the tendering process will begin within a week. While the deadline for completion of phase III has been fixed at December 2017, Singh announced that the project will be completed six months earlier.
“There is need to minimise traffic congestion on roads and we want to build such infrastructure across India to decongest roads. The third phase of Barapullah will be useful for the people of East and South Delhi. This project will be completed by June 2017,” Singh said.
