Cracks Apart, Airport Bags Steel Award

Chennai: First came the ISO certification. Now comes a commendation for their steel structure. The Chennai Airport staff may be running from pillar to post to keep the toilets clean and prevent glass panes from cracking, but their solid steel structure in the modern new terminals has fetched them an award from a trade body.

Appreciating the steel-and-chrome design that was incorporated into the modernisation project in 2009 and built by Airports Authority of India, the Institute for Steel Development and Growth (INSDAG) will present the award at a function in Mumbai next week. The award has been given for professionals in Structural Steel Design and Construction.
