Customs seize 1.033 kg gold from air passenger at Mangalore airport

Mangaluru: Officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport (MIA) at Kenjar on Wednesday seized gold brought in the form of silver paint coated suitcase handle buckle holders, ladies handbag buckles and jeans trouser buttons, totally weighing 1033 grams, and valued at Rs 27,27,120. N Udaya Shankar, assistant commissioner of customs (airport) said all this contraband was kept in a trolley suitcase, brought as checked in baggage.

The accused Abdul Gaffoor Kadappuram, 44, son of Ahamed Kunhi Kaddappuram, is a resident of Moilikariyath House, KMWT, 1/34, Kanhangad post office, Kasargod district in Kerala who arrived at MIA at 8.10am by Jet Airways flight 9W531 from Dubai. Further investigation is under progress.
