Dabolim terminal gets a bit bigger

Panaji:  The new Dabolim airport terminal is being extended on the west side and will get new lifts, escalators and aerobridges with an eye to enhancing passenger convenience.

Speaking to TOI on Wednesday, Dabolim airport director K Srinivasa Rao said that due to non-availability of land the new terminal was built in a vertical rather than horizontal manner, which is why people have to walk a number of floors before boarding a flight. The airports authority of India (AAI) is now planning to install five lifts between the first and second floors so that passengers don't have to walk on the circuitous ramps.

The authority is also extending the terminal on the western side and this is partly completed. This new wing will also be equipped with escalators and lifts between the first and second floors.
