'Decide on granting childcare leave to AAI staff'

Mumbai: The Bombay high court has directed the Centre to take a decision expeditiously on granting childcare leave for Airports Authority of India's (AAI) women employees.

The direction was passed on December 2 on a review petition by S Mangala, deputy general manager (aviation safety), who informed the court that AAI had suppressed an office memorandum (OM), which allowed its women employees facilities on par with central government employees.

On August 26, a division bench of Justice V M Kanade and Justice Anil Menon had quashed disciplinary proceedings initiated against her for taking childcare leave to attend to her two children, including a 12-year-old with special needs, during exams.
