Indian national arrested for drug possession at KLIA

Sepang: The Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Customs Department on Sunday detained a 27-year-old Indian national in connection to the seizure of 5.34 kilogrammes of drugs worth RM1.01 million.

Its director Datuk Chik Omar Chik Lim said the man was arrested after being found with a crystal-like substance which tested positive for Methamphetamine.

The man was detained after arriving in the airport on an inbound Malaysia Airlines Flight from Chennai, India.

"A thorough examination of his hand luggage revealed several packages containing the drugs that were hidden in a secret compartment," he told a press conference, at the department's office, here, this afternoon.

The latest arrest brings the number of foreigners arrested by the department under section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 to 18 between January and December this year.
