Intra-state flights to take off from Surat on Dec 13

Surat:  Finally, fliers have something to cheer about. The city has been left with just one tri-weekly flight to Delhi after SpiceJet suspended its operations from the city after a buffalo-hit grounded its flight last month.

However, Diamond Aeronautics Ltd, an aviation company floated by diamond barons, is set to begin commercial intra-state operations. The company will start by flying three trips to Bhavnagar from Surat on December 13. It has two nine-seater Cessna Grand Caravan aircrafts that are nine-seaters.

The company has already launched its chartered flight services. Lalji Patel of Dharmanandan Diamonds and one of the promoters of DAL, said, "Our original plan was to start commercial operations once we have a whole fleet of aircrafts. But we preponed the plan with an intention to give out a message that Surat airport is safe for operations."
