Jackal trapped at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport

Indore: A jackal was trapped in a cage at the local Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport here on Tuesday, forest officials said.

The jackal was trapped in one of the cages put up by forest officials near the runway to catch wild animals lurking in the thickets at the airport premises, posing a threat to flights.

"A jackal was trapped today in one of the cages installed near the runaway. Later, it was released in the wild areas of Charol nearby," Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) R N Saxena told PTI.

So far, four wild jackals, a palm civet and two wild cats have been trapped as part of a drive launched to clear the airport of wild animals since last month, he said.
