Noida: A delegation of the Confederation of NCR Residents Welfare Association (CONRWA) met Union culture, tourism and civil aviation minister Mahesh Sharma on Thursday, demanding speedy clearance of an airport in Jewar town of Gautam Budh Nagar district.
"An airport near Noida has been a long-pending demand. We want it to come up soon as it will open many developmental doors for the district," said P S Jain, president, CONRWA.
The delegation also presented the minister a roadmap for improving tourist destinations across the country. These included building websites of the destinations that would list information on hotel accommodations, food, sight-seeing options, road, rail and air transport and local culture, among others. Members suggested that in collaboration with local residents, all tourist destinations should be given a facelift. For example appointing local paryatak mitra (friend of tourists) would enhance tourists' experience, they added.
