SpiceJet cancels flight to Kathmandu

Kathmandu: Cash-strapped Indian budget airline, SpiceJet, did not fly to Nepal today after Indian oil companies refused to refuel the aircraft of the airline company which had failed to pay the fuel bills.

As per the schedule, SpiceJet was supposed to fly on New Delhi-Kathmandu-New Delhi route on Wednesday. But the entire fleet of the India’s second largest low-fare airline was grounded this morning after oil companies refused to refuel its planes citing due payments.

Indian media reports said the airline company resumed its flight operation after oil marketing companies started supplying fuel following a token payment of its dues.

General Sales Agent of SpiceJet in Nepal — Zenith Travels — said today’s flight was cancelled by SpiceJet and it had no information about other flights as of Wednesday evening. The airline flies once a day to and from Kathmandu.
