SpiceJet passengers make alternative arrangements

Mangaluru: The crisis surrounding budget carrier SpiceJet, which resonated across the country, did not touch this coastal city. For, the carrier stopped operations to the city three days ago.

SpiceJet flights, which were grounded after oil marketing companies refused to provide it credit over non-payment of dues, connected Mangaluru to Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Sources in Mangaluru International Airport told TOI that passengers who had booked their tickets with the carrier cancelled their bookings and have alternate travel arrangements.

SpiceJet operated a bombardier on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru sector and a boeing on the Mangaluru-Mumbai sector. The carrier had stopped operations of its Boeing flight from this city to Bengaluru nearly a month ago, sources said.Spice Jet flight (SG 1033) used to depart Bengaluru at 7.50am and reach here at 8.55am.

The return flight (SG 1034) used to leave city at 9.15am and reached the state capital at 10.15am. On the Mumbai sector, SpiceJet flight SG 109 used to leave Mumbai at 1.15pm and reach Mangaluru at 2.30pm.
