To help travellers save commuting time and also find the most cost-efficient transportation to and from airports, hotels.com has compiled a list which compares taxi, private transport and mass transit options within the most popular international and domestic destinations.

Bangkok offers affordable taxis for travellers from the airport to the city centre, covering 17 miles for ?491 (Approximately $8 at an average of $0.45 per mile).

Not far behind are Beijing, Mexico City, Singapore and Rio de Janeiro, these cities offer transportation from the airport to the city centre at a price below ?1,200 ($20).

In Mumbai, the distance from the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport to the city centre (Dadar) is approximately 11 km. The best way to get to the city centre here is prepaid black and yellow taxis available in a/c and non a/c options without the need for prior booking. They are the most affordable taxis for ?350 and it takes approximately 20 minutes to reach Dadar. AC cabs such as the Ola, Meru or Tab cabs services are available at a higher price. Buses ply between CSIA and nearby railway stations, Vile Parle and Andheri. Autorickshaws are only licensed to operate in the western suburbs beyond Bandra, and in the central suburbs past Sion. Travellers looking for mass transit can travel through Mumbai local train at the cost of ?10 and reach Dadar (city centre) in around 25 minutes. In Bengaluru, the airport is 34 km (21.00 miles) from the city centre – Koramangala. The best ways to get to the city centre are as follows. Travellers will have to pay ?1,050 with the average time of one hour 20 minutes by cab. Buses are broadly categorised as air-conditioned or regular, which have separate fee structures. Major stations include Kempegowda Bus Station, Shivajinagar and KR Market.
