Guwahati: Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ashok Gajapathi Raju on Friday formally inaugurated the Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC) at the LGB International Airport in the presence of the officials from Airports Authority of India (AAI), representatives of NIIT Technologies and their partners, who executed the contract.
The Minister said that airport modernisation will contribute towards the growth of the aviation sector and stressed the need for addressing the problems in the sector.
“Both the Centre and the State governments must work together to remove the impediments in the growth of the aviation sector,” said the Minister pointing out that the aviation sector in the North East was plagued with myriad problems.
He said that issues like high airport charges and high tax on aviation turbine fuel has to be addressed to incentivise the airlines to start operating from here as well.
