Biz magnets and their air power

When the Vibrant Gujarat summit commences, top industrialists will not merely compete to sign the obligatory letters of intent with Gujarat government. There will also be flamboyant displays to mark their success and stature. And when it comes to making a statement of power and money, there is nothing better than private jets, customised to suit the comfort and requirements of the business magnets who own them. With just days to go, Gujarat is expecting some of the big names including the Ambanis, Tatas, Adanis, Ruias to fly into the state. According to aviation sources, Ratan Tata prefers to travel in his Tata Falcon 2000 LX, a French aircraft.

"French aircraft are known for their superior aero-dynamic design, their range and size. Tata prefers the Falcon and has been flying it for some time now," an aviation expert told Mirror. Sources in the aviation industry said, Tata prefers to fly his own aircraft on various occasions as he is a very good pilot. Reliance Industries' boss Mukesh Ambani travels in his Boeing Business Jet 2, a US aircraft that is complete with an executive office and a bedroom suite. Sources claimed that it is also a preferred jet of most American politicians and businessmen. He also, at times, uses the Air Bus 319 corporate jet, gifted to his wife Neeta Ambani on her 44th birthday.

According to sources, he had used Boeing Business Jet 2 when he had recently visited Ahmedabad with his family to attend the 90th birthday of his uncle Ramnikbhai Ambani. Ambani's fleet of aircraft also includes a Falcon 900EX. "Airbus 319 is another Frenchmade aircraft that has style, elegance and comfort. While Airbus has a capacity of 140-180 passengers, Ambani's jet may be customised to have various compartments and may have around 40 seats," said sources. His brother Anil Ambani also owns a fleet of business jets including a Falcon 2000, Falcon 7X and the Global Express XRS jet.
