Commandos patrol airport after hijack threat to Air India Delhi-Kabul flight

A Kolkata man has been arrested for making a hijacking threat call to Air India, even as the Delhi airport was been set on high alert following intelligence agency inputs about a hijack threat on an Air India Delhi - Kabul flight.
According to a report in the Times of India, following the 'specific' input in Delhi, "stringent checks of even the staff members have been instructed".
"The threat perception is based on messages that surfaced earlier, indicating that both Islamic State militants and the Taliban may choose to target India", NDTV said, quoting sources.
"Security around all the airports have been strengthened and we have taken all the measures that are required in the wake of the alert from intelligence agencies," official sources told PTI.
The Times of India report details some security measures. The report says ground staff has been asked to thoroughly check all cabin baggage once the passengers boarded, that commandos will patrol the adjoining areas of the airport with LMG-mounted vehicles, the number of flight marshals have also been increased and cabin crew have been asked to look out for problem elements.
