Panaji: Protesting the manner in which the public hearing for the proposed Mopa airport is being held, Goans for Dabolim Only (GFDO) pointed out that the Goa government cannot be a project proponent and simultaneously judge the viability of the project. The group wrote a letter to the chief secretary in this regard.
"North Goa collector Neela Mohanan, the judge at the public hearing, will always be under pressure to promote her master's voice and as such, no person under the direct control of an interested party or project proponent can be the designated authority for conducting any public hearing," GFDO member Rajendra Kakodkar said while speaking at a press conference.
Kakodkar pointed out that Mohanan happens to be the wife of Ameya Abhyankar, the secretary of the government's PPP cell, and since the proposed Mopa Airport is a PPP project, Abhyankar has a key role in it.
