Mumbai : India’s contribution to the field of science needs to be the integral part of the Indian Science Congress (ISC), Vijay Bhatkar, the scientist who is often referred to as the father of Indian super computer, has said.
Bhatkar was replying to a query regarding the row over a proposed lecture on ‘Ancient Indian Aviation Technology’ in the Indian Science Congress, which is to be inaugurated here in Mumbai on Saturday. An Indian American scientist has floated an online petition condemning the lecture.
“I’ve not got the opportunity to go through the entire content of the lecture. But, I know the speaker, who holds an M.Tech degree, knows aviation as a ‘Captain’ and has been studying the subject from different perspectives for several years,” Bhatkar said. “As scientists, we should be open. Branding anything to be ‘pseudo science’ without knowing the work is not proper,” he added.
“I have always felt that India’s contribution to the field of science should be an integral part of Indian science congress. India has so many things right from ‘Zero’ to the ‘plastic surgery’ and many more things and the whole world recognises that. We should to be proud of this ancient knowledge tradition of our country and also make efforts to make the new generations aware of this tradition,” Bhatkar who is presently the Chancellor of India International Multiversity and National President of Vijnana Bharati said.
