Vistara to operate out of Mumbai International Airport’s new T2 terminal

Mumbai: Vistara, the joint venture airline between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, will be the first full-fledged domestic carrier to operate out of Mumbai International Airport's new T2 terminal.

Currently, the terminal handles overseas operations of airlines and the domestic sectors of Air India's international flights. Domestic carriers operate from terminals 1A and 1B and are slated to shift to T2 in July.

"Since we are starting operations in January 2015, it would make no sense for us to operate from the old terminal just for a few months," said a senior executive at the carrier.

An executive at the airport said Vistara will first operate from level 4 at the terminal, which houses international carriers. In July, it will shift to level 3, where domestic carriers are scheduled to be set up. Vistara is working with MIAL to take steps to promote the location of its operations.
