Windshield crack grounds Air India flight in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: An Air India flight was grounded at Mangaluru International Airport after it suffered a crack in the windshield of its cockpit on Thursday. The Delhi-Mumbai-Mangaluru flight was repaired and sent back to Delhi on Friday morning.

AI manager Nagesh said the aircraft was grounded for repair after the pilot noticed the crack. Engineers were flown in from New Delhi replaced the windshield on Thursday night.

While 103 passengers were sent on a diverted Air India flight from Bengaluru to Mumbai on Thursday, 47 went to Delhi on the repaired aircraft on Friday. Nine international passengers, who had their connecting flights, were sent by Jet Airways on Thursday to Mumbai.
