Airbus India to expand sourcing base in India

Bengaluru:  Leading aircraft manufacturer Airbus is planning to increase its sourcing base from India for the manufacture of its planes. Presently, the company have around 38 supply chain partners in the country.

As part of its new strategy, the European major has signed a single source Tier-I supplier agreement with Bengaluru-based Dynamatic Technologies. As per the agreement Dynamatics will be the single source supplier of flap-track beams for the A-330 aircraft. The size of the deal was not disclosed.

According to the company, this is its largest manufacturing deal with any private sector player in the country. It also said, Airbus sourcing from India over past nine years have grown 12-folds and $400 million worth sourcing was done from India in 2014.

“India is one of the fastest aviation growth markets in the world and it will be one of the largest in the next 20 year. The new deal with Dynamatic signifies our commitment towards developing the aerospace supply chain in India thereby supporting thousands of highly skilled jobs in India,”said Dr Srinivasan Dwarakanth, Managing Director, Airbus India.
