Bad weather disrupts flights at Dabolim

Vasco: Due to bad weather and heavy fog, four flights, including a charter, which were supposed to land at Dabolim airport, had to be diverted to neighbouring airports.

All these four aircraft reached Goa after getting the green signal from Dabolim airport after 1pm.

Long queues were seen at Dabolim airport as passengers waited to board their aircraft. Outside the terminal building, relatives and friends, who had come to pick passengers, had to wait for about six hours.

Bad weather affected both domestic as well as international flights to the state. AAI sources at the Dabolim airport said that the Air India flight coming from Muscat to Chennai via Goa at 6.30am, had to be diverted to Mumbai. The Air India flight from Mumbai to Goa at 7am had to also be diverted back to Mumbai airport, while an Air Asia flight from Bengaluru to Goa was diverted to Bengaluru airport and a Russian charter was diverted to Mumbai.
