Delhi-Sgr air fare soars, affects tourist inflow

As the tourism season for Kashmir is nearing, travel companies and the airlines have hiked air fare sharply affecting inflow to tourists.
The air tickets from Delhi to Srinagar have touched sky high to Rs 12000, whereas the fares from Srinagar to Delhi are not more than Rs 6000. This jaw-dropping disparity has left every traveller in a fix.
Most the Kashmiris who migrate to other Indian cities during winter return by the end of February. They are preferring road journey to Kashmir due to high air fares.
Sajad Ahmad, travel agents from Srinagar, has expresses surprise over the sharp increase in the air fare from Delhi to Srinagar.
“For last two weeks, I have been checking the air fares but it never came down from Rs 10000. It is unaffordable. I wonder why there is no such mechanism to keep a check on this.”
Khursheed Ahmad, operational manager of Jet Airways said that they have no role in fixing the rates of tickets.
