Vijayawada: The ambitious plans of Airports Authority of India (AAI) to expand Gannavaram airport may get the required fillip soon as officials from the district administration are planning to set the land acquisition process in motion. A crucial meeting is scheduled to be held in this regard on February 13 wherein Revenue department officials would interact with AAI representatives.
Senior officials from the airport, revenue and other departments concerned will be participating in the meeting to be chaired by the Krishna district Collector A. Babu. At a recent meeting conducted at the Gannavaram airport, Union Minister of Civil Aviation P. Ashok Gajapati Raju is said to have told authorities to expedite the process of land acquisition in order to take up the expansion works.
