Technical snag grounds Air India flight in Muscat

Muscat: A technical snag left a Mumbai bound Air India flight from Muscat grounded for hours forcing passengers to change their travel plans on Monday.

Aircraft engineers, flown to Muscat from India to rectify the technical snag of the grounded Muscat-Mumbai AI986, are working to resolve the problem, said a top official of Air India in Muscat.
"The flight, supposed to arrive at 11 pm from Mumbai on Sunday, landed at around 1am and then took 30 minutes more to park. As per the schedule the flight was supposed to leave Muscat for Mumbai at 12.05 am Monday.   There is a possibility that the pilot sensed some problem with the aircraft. Out of the 126 passengers, 50 were flown on other airlines to Mumbai while the rest are being provided accommodation," said BP Kulkarni, country manager of Air India in Oman. "The departure of the flight has now been delayed for more than 15 hours and it may take off by today (Monday) evening," said the country manager, while adding that passengers were given dinner at the airport.
Meanwhile, worried passengers were posting their concerns about the flight's delay on social networking sites.
