Karipur: The Air Customs Intelligence (ACI) officials nabbed a passenger with one kilogram of smuggled gold at Calicut International Airport on Thursday. Edakkara native A P Shihab is the arrested in connection with the case.
Shihab arrived at the airport on board an Indigo flight from Dubai.
The eight pieces of gold were concealed inside his rectum. The gold was not found in the normal inspection of the Customs and Emigration at the Calicut airport.
Later, the Door Frame Metal Detector inspection conducted by ACI helped to locate the gold hidden in his rectum.
