Man who jumped off Mumbai plane was depressed

Mumbai: Akash Jain is sent to judicial custody after no one came forward to give bail surety for his release after he jumped the emergency door of a domestic flight and walked through the flight wing to jump 10-feet down to exit through arrival terminal of the airport on Friday. The Jalandhar resident, Akash Jain, claimed that he ran from his home after he is depressed of looking after the business chores of his father who runs soda manufacturing unit there, said the Domestic Airport police.

Jain was produced before the Bandra Holiday Court on Sunday. He has been booked under the Indian Penal Code section 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others). He is also charged with section 29 (acts likely to imperil the safety of aircraft) of the Indian Aircraft Act, 1937. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone VIII) Virendra Mishra said the court sent Jain to judicial custody after nobody came to take his bail.
Jain has been is arrested on Saturday a day after he opened the emergency exit of a Chandigarh-Mumbai Jet Airways flight after the plane landed at Mumbai airport on Friday and jumped off the aircraft's wing on the tarmac.
