AAI union rejects mediation, plans all-out fight against airports privatisation

New Delhi: The Airports Authority of India Employee Union (AAIEU) wants to go on a warpath with the government and the AAI management due to their allegedly callous attitude towards its demands and Chief Labour Commissioner's (CLC) directions to resolve issues related to privatisation of the four airports.

Balraj Singh Ahlawat, general secretary of AAIEU, told dna that the government and AAI management had failed to respond to them on their demands and also not followed the CLC's order of holding a meeting with AAI employees' representatives.

"This time (March 30) when we met the CLC, we told him not to mediate between us (AAIEU and the government and AAI management) but let us (AAIEU) fight directly with the government. I told him whoever is stronger will win," said Ahlawat, who is trying to rope in anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare to organise a protest rally against the privatisation of Chennai, Kolkata, Jaipur and Ahmedabad airports.
