Mysuru airport expansion could have to wait

Mysuru: The Airports Authority of India will have to wait for some more time to decide on its Mysuru airport expansion plan.

The CM Siddaramaiah on Sunday dropped clear hints that the state government will continue with its plan to construct an underpass below the runway for the expansion of the workable airport.

Referring to the proposal sent to the Union civil aviation ministry, he said: "We've demanded construction of underpass (below the proposed runway). The Union government has not approved it yet."

Siddaramaiah said the infrastructure development minister R Roshan Baig has followed up the proposal some time back during his visit to Delhi. I've also written a letter to them, he told reporters indicating that the government is unlikely to change its plans given that experts have said the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is not likely to approve the plan.
