On service yardstick, Pune airport fares better

Pune:  An extensive survey conducted by the Airports Council International may have found overall improvement at the Lohegaon airport in Pune in terms of customer satisfaction, but it also points out shortcomings in services like cleanliness, availability of toilets, ambience among others.

The Airport Quality Survey (ASQ) for 2014 has given the Pune airport 4.20 points on a scale of 5. With this, the Lohegaon airport now boasts of 91st position among 250 airports in the world — an improvement from the 110th spot it occupied in 2013. Pune's is among the 11 airports in the country that feature in the ASQ survey — the industry's standard for measuring passenger satisfaction at the airport.

In the country, the Pune facility has the seventh highest score.
The areas where the Pune airport was found lacking were ground transportation to/from airport, availability of parking facilities, parking facilities value for money, availability of baggage carts/trolleys, courtesy and helpfulness of security staff, flight information screens, ease of making connections with other flights, availability of bank/ ATM facilities/ money changers, availability of washrooms/toilets, cleanliness of washrooms/toilets, etc.
