Passengers’ association seeks improvements to airport

Chennai: The Air Passengers Association of India (APAI) has written to the State government seeking improvements at the airport, in the context of the upcoming Global Investors’ Meet in the city.

D. Sudhakar Reddy of APAI, in a note, said several issues including non-availability of travelators between the two terminals of the airport, pick-up facility outside the arrival hall and delays in the arrival of baggage were causing inconvenience to passengers.

He asked if there were special security reasons in Chennai airport that pick-ups outside the arrival hall should be denied to passengers? “Even cities like Delhi and Mumbai permit vehicles. Senior citizens and wheelchair passengers complain about the lack of this facility, but the cars of VVIPs are allowed inside for pick-up,” he said.
