Gulbarga Airport: State to bring pressure on Centre

The special representative of the State government in New Delhi C.S. Nadagouda, MLA, said that the State government would do everything to pressure the Union government to ask the Airports Authority of India to complete work on the Gulbarga Airport and bring the district on India’s aviation map.

Speaking to presspersons after visiting the site of the Gulbarga Airport in Srinivasa Saradagi village on the outskirts of Kalaburagi on Thursday, Mr. Nadagouda said that the Civil Aviation Ministry and the authority had sent positive signals to take over the construction of the airport in Kalaburagi.

He said that the AAI teams have visited both Gulbarga and Shivamogga airports, which is also incomplete, more than once to assess the incomplete work and a report of the estimated cost to complete the remaining work in both the airports were yet to be submitted by the AAI.

Mr. Nadagouda said that the State government was committed to provide the required amount to complete the works in both the airports and start air services at the earliest. “We have told AAI that the required amount and all cooperation would be extended to complete the work in both the airports and we are waiting for the response of the AAI,” he said.
