Stuck for 7 years, govt decides to rope in AAI for Kushinagar airport

After failing to build Kushinagar International Airport on the public-partnership model for seven years, the state government has now decided to take the support of Airports Authority of India (AAI) to make the project a reality.
The AAI has agreed to take up the project following a meeting between state Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan and AAI Chairman R K Srivastava last month. “The AAI has agreed to take up the project. The airport will be built through a joint venture between the Uttar Pradesh government and AAI. Soon, we will sign a MoU after deciding on certain details,” Chief Secretary Alok Rajan said.
