2 kg of Gold Seized at Airport

KOCHI:The Air Intelligence Unit, Air Customs, Cochin International Airport, Nedumbassery, seized 2 kg of gold from a passenger named Riyaz, a native of  Kozhikode, who arrived here in an Air India Express flight from Sharjah on Thursday morning.

The flight was scheduled to land at Karipur airport on Wednesday night but was diverted to Nedumbasserry following the tense situation in the Karipur airport.

The accused tried to smuggle two gold bars weighing  1 kg each by concealing them inside his shoes. The passenger was attempting to exit the arrival hall through the green channel without declaring the gold for purpose of evading duty.
