2,997 gram golden coil in transformer seized at airport

Panaji: Goa customs on Saturday seized 2.997 kilograms of gold valued at Rs 80.14 lakh from an international passenger, Oomer Abdul Razak Khan, 32, a resident of Mumbai, Maharashtra who arrived from Sharjah.

This is the fifth seizure of gold at the Dabolim airport this month. Goa customs arrested Khan in the case.

Instead of gold bars, the metal was rolled into wires and concealed inside the coil of a transformer of a soldering machine.
