Vijayawada: Even as the Krishna administration has intensified its efforts to pool lands for the expansion of Gannavaram airport, land owners, especially those owning small plots, are apprehensive about getting fair deal in allocation of plots in the capital region.
The administration identified about 600 acres in Ajjampudi, Buddhavaram and Kesarapally villages for airport expansion. Major portion of land in Ajjampudi and Buddhavaram is, however, in the possession of owners of plots ranging from 30 to 90 cents. Many owners are not willing to part with their lands and are demanding on market price. Many fear that they would not get a fair deal in proportionate allotment of land. There is no clarity on allotments of lands in capital, says Y. Narsimha Rao, CPI (M) leader.
