Black Box recovered from IAF aircraft crash site in Odisha

Baripada: A 40-member team of Indian Air Force (IAF) continued its investigation into yesterday’s crash of the Hawk advanced jet trainer aircraft (A 3492) in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district for the second day today.
The Black Box, cockpit data recorder (CDR) and flight data recorder (FDR) have been found at the crash site and these are supposed to aid the investigation immensely.

“A special 40-member team led by Wing Commander Naveen Rana has arrived from Delhi to conduct the investigations. Four-five teams of technical experts are already there on the site examining the wreckage. Another team of technical experts is expected to join them soon,” said Northern Range IG Asit Panigrahi.

“The investigations will continue for two more days after the arrival of the new expert team. We will get to know the exact reason of the crash only when IAF completes its investigation and submits the report. The crash site has been cordoned off and a large contingent of policemen has been deployed to keep the crowd of hundreds of curious onlookers at bay,” Panigrahi said.
