Vijayawada: In view of the expected boom in exports of perishable cargo like sea food and horticulture produce from the district and other parts of the region, Vijayawada Airport authorities are now engaged in studying the pattern of cargo shipments and transport in the region, to come out with plans for a separate cargo handling terminal at the airport.
Last month, the authorities had even final year MBA students to do a study as part of the project on the demand-supply of the perishable food and opportunities for exports of such goods.
“What we are looking at is the traffic of cargo, mostly perishable products, that needs air transport. Whether they can be routed to other domestic airports or had to be shipped to international destinations.
