CIAL does a stitch in time, calls meeting to patch up differences

Kochi: In view of the incident in which a CISF jawan was killed in a clash with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) officials at the Kozhikode airport, officials of the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) on Thursday convened a meeting to ensure cooperation among various agencies operating here.

The meeting, convened by airport director A.C.K. Nair, was attended by representatives of all the agencies including the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Customs. “It was held in a cordial atmosphere, in which all the agencies have assured utmost cooperation to enable the smooth functioning of the airport,” Mr. Nair told The Hindu .

The move assumes significance in the wake of recent reports about the conflict between the CISF and the Customs department.

The issue came to light after some unidentified officials in the Customs issued a statement alleging high-handedness by the CISF at the airport.
