CISF personnel spring unpleasant surprise on visitors at airport

Port Blair: The people who went to receive their guests, relatives and friends at Veer Savarkar International Airport here on Monday had an unpleasant surprise waiting for them.  Having purchased the entery tickets costing Rs. 30/ each, they walked to the entry gate excited and longing to see and receive their dear ones arrving by GoAir flight. But to their utter dismay and surprise, the CISF security personnel on duty at the gate would not allow them to enter until and unless they showed their identity cards to them.  Taken aback since no one had ever asked to prove their identity on earlier occasions, they argued with the security personnel who would not relent.  A heated exchage of words then ensued and the visitors were flatly told to go home and return with their I-cards if they ever wished to enter inside to receive their guests. Mere entry tickets were not enough, they told the visitors.

“How can you stop us from getting inside.  We have purchased entry tickets and these tickets have always been considered valid enough for many years.  How can you enforce a new rule all of a sudden,” shouted a dozen odd visitors.  After a lot of high drama, the security men finally allowed them the entry.
