Co-Pilot Subash's Family Prays for His Safe Return

Chennai: Even as the search for the missing Indian Coast Guard Dornier and the three crew onboard entered the third day, the co-pilot Deputy Commandant Subash Suresh’s family is praying for their safe return.

“As he (Subash) set out for the surveillance mission, he spoke to me and said he will be back by 10.30 pm. We hope he and the two others are safe, and will return soon,” said his 50-year-old mother Padma from his home at Nanganallur, near Chennai.

Padma said she has been waiting for her son’s arrival from 10.30 pm on Monday. Around 2.30 am on Tuesday, she tried reaching Subash. But his phone was switched off. Around 2.45 am, Coast Guard officials conveyed the news that the aircraft had gone missing with the crew, she said.

As she spoke, her voice quivered and her eyes moistened, but hope had not faded. “I am sure he will be back. His brain works like a computer. He will bring back his other colleagues. We will call you for the photo-shoot then,” said the mother.
