PANAJI: The air intelligence wing of the of Commissionerate of Customs today seized 9.440 kg gold worth Rs 2.65 crore which was being smuggled by a lady through the Goa International Airport at Dabolim. The officials detained the passenger namely Shaheen Hussain Gadkar, resident of Bhatkal, Karnataka on suspicion and on searching her belongings found the smuggled gold.
Gadkar travelled to Goa by an Air India flight at around 4:30 a.m. The accused has been placed under arrest by the custom authorities. Custom authorities are investigating the case further as this is the second major haul of smuggled gold this month.
